MDK Architects Ltd (MDKA) was established by Maria Karaolides in August 2020 as a solo venture. Previously, Maria co created the architecture practice known as Karaolides Szynalska Architects Ltd. with Karolina Szynalska. During their eight years in partnership, they established a highly successful practice, carrying out projects for a wide range of clients and building typologies.
Maria has worked on a number of complex education facilities for Lincolnshire County Council; including the Warren Wood Community School – a SEN centre of excellence, a number of Higher Education buildings for Lincoln University including the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre , The Great Central Warehouse University Library and The Engine Shed Student Union and Performance Venue.
Maria is a Chartered Architect and an accredited RIBA Client Adviser. She studied up to Masters level at the University of Sheffield, and gained her professional architectural qualifications at the University of Lincoln.
Maria lectured in architecture for 15 years at the University of Lincoln and has also taught at Sheffield Hallam University, Liverpool University, and Lincoln College.
In her spare time Maria can be seen walking around Lincoln walking her Cockapoo Gloria.
